Three things to notice
- Body: does it feel light, round, or heavy?
- Brightness: a lively tartness, or something mellow?
- Finish: sweetness, roasted flavor, dryness, or something else?
A ten-minute tasting
- Brew a familiar coffee. Let it cool enough to sip comfortably.
- Smell, then take a small sip. Choose one everyday word that fits.
- Taste again a few minutes later. Notice what changes as it cools.
- Record the bean, the recipe, and whether you would make it again.
Compare rather than guess
Try two coffees with the same recipe another day. Differences are easier to notice side by side. There is no correct fruit to find.
One useful thing
“I like this one” is a useful tasting note.
