Set up safely

Use the standard upright position on a sturdy mug, never a fragile glass. Fit the filter securely in its cap. This recipe is for an Original-size AeroPress.

Brew one cup

  1. Fit a paper filter in the cap, attach the cap, and place the brewer upright on your mug.
  2. Add 16 g of coffee and 200 g of hot water, staying below the maximum fill.
  3. Stir gently, then insert the plunger just far enough to make a seal. Wait about 1 minute.
  4. Press gently for 20–30 seconds. If it resists, stop. Try a coarser grind next time.
  5. Remove the brewer and add 40 g of hot water to the cup. Taste before adding more.

Make it yours

Use less dilution for a stronger cup. This is concentrated filter coffee rather than espresso.

One useful thing

Rinse the brewer after each use. A clean filter cap makes the next cup easier.
