Start with what you have

Choose one method first. Your current kettle and favorite mug may be enough. Brew a few mornings before deciding what is missing.

What earns its space

  • One brewer that suits the amount and texture of coffee you like.
  • A scale with a readable gram display for repeatable recipes.
  • A burr grinder for whole beans and grind adjustments.
  • A kettle you can pour safely and comfortably.
  • Matching filters and a timer—your phone timer is fine.

Before buying

Check capacity, filter availability, cleaning, replacement parts, and storage space. Hand grinders take effort. A gooseneck is most useful for pour-over; wait if you brew French press.
